Jesus and his disciple were walking through a field; his
disciples did something that was forbidden to be done on the Sabbath day. The
Pharisees question Jesus on this, Jesus replies saying that it is common sense
that a human being will eat when he is hungry, whether the food is offered to
God or is the share of someone else.
Jesus makes it clear to them that all
people have to get to the heart of the law and not just follow it literally and
blindly. The punch line of Jesus is ‘The Sabbath was made for man, not man for
the Sabbath.’
