THE HEAD OF JOHN THE BAPTIST 5th Feb

It is wonderful to notice how the human mind combines two unrelated facts and produces something new. King Herod gets to hear some opinions about who Jesus is. Further on we notice how Herod falls prey to the dance of the daughter of Herodias. He makes an oath for which he later regrets. The head of John the Baptist meant the end of a prophet who opposed Herodias’ marriage with Herod. This was the best opportunity for Herodias’ and she used it to vent out her anger.

Reflective question: Have I tried to do away with someone who challenged my life?
