GET UP, PICK UP YOUR SLEEPING MAT AND WALK 8th March

The Sabbath is for man not man for Sabbath. Jesus makes it clear that the heart of the law is more important than the letter of the law. Jesus heals a person with an illness which accompanied him for 38 years. Jesus listens to his story and then heals him. As usual the Jews and the Pharisees get stuck up with the aspect of Jesus healing on the Sabbath day.

 

Reflective question: Do I get stuck up with the letter of the Law?

Jesus is unhappy with the rejection He faced at Samaria. Today’s Gospel brings to light the fact that Jesus’ words have immense power and are fulfilled immediately.

 

Reflective question: Do I too; like to officer accept what Jesus says?

RECOLLECT, REPENT AND RETURN- PRODIGAL SON 6th March

Change and newness is difficult to get along with; people criticize Jesus for having sat and had food with sinners. So as to make them aware of God’s mercy he tells them the parable of the Prodigal Son. He tells them that the Father is ever merciful.

Reflective question: Have I been merciful like the Father?

THE HUMBLE WILL BE EXALTED 5th March

Pride goes before a downfall. Sometimes we too behave like the Pharisee who acts with pride. We need to be like the tax collector, who knows who he is and acknowledges his sinfulness before God. We need to be humble and allow God to work in our lives. Attitude in prayer is also as important as the prayer itself.

Reflective question: Am I humble in prayer?

LOVE GOD AND YOUR NEIGHBOUR 4th March

Love the Lord your God and love your neighbor as yourself. Jesus says that these are the most important commandments. When we give God His place/ due, He will support and mightily bless us.

Reflective question: Do I love my Lord and my neighbor as myself?

THROUGH BEELZEBUL, HE CASTS OUT DEVILS 3rd March

Jesus is faced with opposition from the people. They say that He casts out demons by the power of Beelzebul. Jesus explains to them that a kingdom divided against itself doesn’t stand. Luke concludes this passage with Jesus’ saying that whoever is with Him will help Him to gather and vice versa.

Reflective question: Am I gathering with Jesus?

KEEP MY LAWS 2nd March

Jesus says that He has come not to abolish the law but to keep it. He assures that those who keep the laws will be considered as great in the Kingdom of Heaven. As human beings we are also called to practice it and lead others to do the same.
